2019 International Symposium on Contemporary Labor Economics


The Chinese University of Hong Kong


December 15-16, 2019 (Sunday-Monday)


We are pleased to announce the 2019 International Symposium on Contemporary Labor Economics at the Department of Economics, the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong, China. The symposium is jointly organized by the Department of Economics of the Chinese University of Hong Kong, the Wang Yanan Institute for Studies in Economics (WISE) of Xiamen University, and the Institute for Economic and Social Research (IESR) of Jinan University.

The purpose of this Symposium is to facilitate the exchange of ideas between Chinese and international scholars on labor economics. We invite submissions from all areas related to labor economics, including but not limited to education and human capital, employment, income inequality, migration, and the labor market impact of trade, globalization, technology, and aging. Empirical research on or theoretical work with empirical applications to the Chinese labor market is particularly welcome.

It is our honor to have the following distinguished keynote speakers this year:

- Seema Jayachandran (Northwestern University)

- Thomas Lemieux (University of British Columbia)

- Mark Rosenzweig (Yale University)

- Michael Waldman (Cornell University)


PAPER SUBMISSION AND REGISTRATION

Researchers interested in participating should submit their papers through our online portal at . The submission deadline is September 30, 2019. Decisions of acceptance will be announced by October 15, 2019.

The registration fee is 100USD for faculty/professionals and 50USD for students. The registration fee covers up conference materials, meals, and coffee/tea breaks for both days of the conference.
