On 6th May 2016, Prof. Honghao Zhang from the Department of Agricultural Economics of National Taiwan University, was invited by IESR to give a lecture on “Taiwan’s Agricultural Policies and Impacts: A Perspective from Applied Economist”. Prof. Zhang pointed out that developed countries are facing three challenges in agricultural development, including the aging of farmers, the decline of cultivated land and the shock of imported agricultural products. Prof. Zhang used the Taiwan agricultural census data to introduce the trend of the agricultural development in Taiwan and further explained that this trend is caused by three related agricultural policies of Taiwan.
