The year of 2017 has seen the growth of IESR. Let's see what IESR has achieved through our Top 10 news.

#1 IESR was appointed as the Demonstration College for the Comprehensive Reform. As a demonstration college, IESR will focus on internationalization of academic development and institutional management.

#2 IESR to establish its first research center: The Center for Econometrics and Microdata Practice (CEMP). To fully utilize the high quality micro data collected by the Survey Data Center at IESR, and promote a close integration between microeconomic theory, econometric methodology and empirical applications, IESR will establish the CEMP. The CEMP is under the direction of Yingyao Hu, professor of economics at Johns Hopkins University, and is joined by Wei Shi and Ji-Liang Shiu from Jinan University. The CEMP currently has 11 center fellows from prestigious institutions.

#3 The Center for Policy Research of IESR was ranked one of the sixteen core think tanks in China by Chinese Social Sciences Net. The Center for Policy Research (CPR) at IESR conducts a broad range of economic and social policy research on topics including employment and labor, the Education of Migrant Children in China, left behind children, housing policy, industrial policies and migrant population. The CPR produces a series of policy briefs and reports, and organizes forums to connect researchers with policymakers. The focus of the center is on solid empirical research using a rigorous econometric approach, and policy recommendations are made based on this.

#4 The 2017 HCEO Summer School on Socioeconomic Inequality Guangzhou was jointly held by HCEO and IESR at Jinan University.

#5 IESR has recruited five full time faculty members graduated from oversea university. Assistant Professor Jie Bai from Harvard University was appointed as special term professor of IESR.

#6 IESR's Bachelor's program admitted 19 students from the National College Entrance Exam and IESR's Master's program started.

#7 IESR has 21 publications and 14 granted projects during 2017.

#8 IESR held 7 international conferences and invited over 100 scholars to visit IESR during 2017.

#9 Professor Shuaizhang Feng was appointed as "National Ten Thousand Talent".

#10 The Survey Data Center carried out 4 major survey projects including RUMiC.
