IESR has been entrusted by the Ministry of Civil Affairs to evaluate social care system regarding left-behind and other children living under difficult circumstances in China. It is already the third time IESR team carries out such work.
In a one-week time, November 4-12, 2018, our team has visited four Anhui and two Guizhou counties, in total acompassing 12 villages that are of highest scrutiny. Our team has taken the time to hear out work reports, consult with local representatives and interview staff members of various local institutions in each of those villages. It also had the opportunity to visit a number of social service centers, as well as the families of left-behind children.
Over one week of intensive evaluation of childcare system in those particular village communities our team has gathered a substantial amount of valuable information. It will be of considerable help in understanding the well-being of those disadvantaged children, as well as the measures that have been taken by the local authorities to protect them and thus reduce the plight of vulnerable children in those areas.
