郭萌萌，西南财经大学经济与管理研究院副教授。2012年获得德国柏林洪堡大学经济学博士学位，主要研究方向为应用计量经济学、环境经济学。已有多篇研究成果发表于Emerging Markets Review, Journal of Forecasting, Statistics and Computing，Review of Development Economics, Journal of Sports Economics等国际期刊。主持国家自然科学基金面上项目和青年项目各一项。长期担任Journal of Business and Economics Statistics, China Economic Review, Emerging Market Finance and Trade等期刊的匿名审稿人。

Abstract:

The diversity brought by migrants and the corresponding influence have attracted widespread interest. Combining the provincial-level patenting and migration data, this paper investigates the relationship between migrant diversity and the regional innovation in China. Specifically, we construct a panel data of provincial migrant diversity measured by different diversity indices. Our findings indicate that the cultural diversity of migrants has a positive impact on the regional innovation. Moreover, the effects display significant heterogeneity across different industries and occupations. The results are robust to different measures of culture diversity as well as after addressing possible endogeneity issues.
