On the afternoon of April 14, Italy’s National University Center for Applied Economics Studies (CiMET) visited the Institute for Economic and Social Research (IESR) at Jinan University. Professor Siyu Chen, Assistant Dean of IESR, chaired the IESR & CiMET Joint Workshop.
Professor Siyu Chen
Founded in 2005, CiMET is a Community of Scholars active in the social sciences. It focuses on applied economic research, particularly in internationalization, industry growth and development, and government policies in Italy and Asia.
Event Participants
The Workshop began with a welcome remark from Professor Shuaizhang Feng, Dean of IESR. Professor Feng first extended his warmest welcome to all the guests from CiMET, briefly introducing Jinan University's history and the development of IESR. At the end of his speech, Professor Feng emphasized that this exchange Workshop may become the starting point for future cooperation between the two sides, IESR and CiMET, in academic research, student exchanges, and other aspects.

Next, Professor Marco Di Tommaso, President of CiMET, introduced the visiting members and expressed his thanks for all the hospitality and help from IESR. He stressed that CiMET and IESR have many common research interests in applied economics, which lays a great foundation for future cooperation in economic development research in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

In the presentation session, scholars from IESR and CiMET presented their latest work.
Sen Ma from IESR delivered a talk on the evolution of China’s land policy and its implications for the development of modern agriculture.
Shu Cai from IESR shared his research findings on China’s changing population policy from a labor economics perspective.
Chiara Pollio from CiMET proposed policy implications for urban structural change, post-shock resilience, and production through empirical analysis.
Claudio Petti from CiMET shared his latest research results on firms’ innovation and environmental policies.
The event ended successfully with fruitful exchanges and discussions, opening up opportunities for cooperation between IESR and CiMET in talent training and academic research.
