IESR Holds the 4th Forum on Children of Migrants

2020-06-16

On June 13-14, 2020, the Institute for Economic and Social Research at Jinan University organized a virtual forum on children of migrants, focusing on the new challenges faced by children of migrants under the shock of the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.

The event consisted of both policy discussions, June 13, and presentations of research papers, June 14 (full program of the second day that was held in English you can check here).

The online event attracted over 200 participants, including the scholars from Harvard, University of Rochester, University of North Texas, as well as universities across China like Shanghai Jiao Tong University, SUFE, Shaanxi Normal University, Jinan University and others.

Like every year, the forum also gathered various government representatives to facilitate discussions on the most pressing issues of migrant children in today’s China and seek for effective policy action throughout the country.

It is the 4th forum the IESR holds since 2017 which aims to create a solid platform for researchers and officials from all over the country to join their forces in understanding the multifold impacts of parental absence on children of migrants (read about last year's event here).
