This year the Institute for Economic and Social Research (IESR) and the Department of Economics at Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) have continued its joint effort in organizing the HKUST-Jinan Joint Macro Workshop, held on December 17-18, 2019 at Jinan University, Guangzhou. 

This is already our 3rd joint event on macroeconomics, and the 2nd one that IESR hosts at Jinan. The main organizers of this two-day event consisted of Pengfei Wang, Professor at Peking University HSBC Business School (former Professor at HKUST), and IESR Dean and Professor Shuaizhang Feng. 

HKUST-Jinan Joint Macro Workshop attracted scholars from various acclaimed institutions both at home and abroad including the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis, Columbia University, The Ohio State University, University of Pennsylvania, Georgetown University, Washington State University, HKUST, SUFE, and others.

The workshop focused on the interaction of macroeconomics and finance, and included 12 presentations of scholarly papers on financial crisis, credit constraints, bond and equity issuance, and their interactions and implications.
