In order to promote academic exchange in the Greater Bay Area, HKUST Department of Economics and IESR are co-hosting Joint Conference on Macroeconomics. We hope to attract many distinguished scholars from all across the globe to share and discuss topics that call for urgent attention in the field of macroeconomics.

Keynote speakers:
Jianjun Miao is a Professor of Economics at Boston University, and Associate Editor of Quontitative Economics, Economic Theory, Macroeconomic Dynamics, and Annals of Economics and Finance. He received PhD in Economics from University of Rochester in 2003. Jianjun Miao's research interests include finance and macroeconomics and their interface with decision theory, industrial organization, and public finance. His work has appeared in such journals as Quarterly Journal of Finance, American Economic Review, Econometrica, Journal of Economic Theory, Theoretical Economics, and many others.
Fernando Broner is a Senior Researcher at the Center for Research in International Economics (CREI), Adjunct Professor at Pompeu Fabra University (UPF), and Research Professor at the Barcelona GSE. He earned his PhD in Economics from the Massachusetts Institute ofTechnology (MIT) in 2000. Fernando Broner's research interests include international economics, finance, and macroeconomics. He has widely published in such journals as Quarterly Journal of Economics, Journal of Monetary Economics, Review of Economic Studies, and he is also a co-editor of the Journal of International Economics.
