The Center for Econometrics and Microdata Practice (CEMP) of IESR at Jinan University is organizing the Second IESR Econometrics Camp on Zoom this summer from August 10 to August 14, 2020.
The topic of this virtual econometrics summer camp is “Panel Data Econometrics and Its Applications”. We are very pleased to invite prominent professors, Manuel Arellano (CEMFI), Stéphane Bonhomme (University of Chicago) and Áureo de Paula (UCL) to deliver lectures and hold office hours in the camp. We will also host a one-day econometric workshop for junior researchers to present their econometric papers. During the camp, CEMP faculty will also run the LIVE round table discussions. As a complement to the lectures, our faculty will be having the LIVE one-to-one interaction with student participants regarding the lecture contents and the panel data.
Our last IESR Econometrics Camp was held in December 2019 in Guangzhou China focusing on the econometrics of machine learning, social network and unobservables. Invited speakers include Whitney Newey, Bryan Graham, and Yingyao Hu.
Please kindly note that the camp is carried out online. The lectures are delivered in the afternoon and evening of Beijing time, which makes it possible for people in other time zones to participate in. Our flexible registration fee scheme also allows to choose among the topics that one is interested in, and to partially participate in the camp. The camp will be fully conducted in English.
Nine two-hour long lectures on three different topics taught by invited prominent professors
Nine one-hour long online office hours with invited professors (pre-bookable online)
Four one-hour long LIVE interactive round table discussions on the specific topics of panel data econometrics and its applications
One day econometrics workshop on August 14
One-to-one LIVE interactions with CEMP faculty regarding the lecture contents and panel data econometrics (for undergraduate and graduate students)
Our Econometrics Summer Camp is open to graduate students (and advanced undergraduates), post-docs, faculty members, and other related researchers. Participants are assumed to have an understanding of econometrics, experience with applied microeconomics, and proficiency in English.
Topics covered in the lectures are:
“Nonlinear panel data model and its applications” (Prof. Manuel Arellano)
“Econometrics of the matched panel data and its applications” (Prof. Stéphane Bonhomme)
“Econometrics of game and the dynamic programming of discrete choice methods” (Prof. Áureo de Paula)
The online application portal will open from 19 June, 2020. If interested, please fill in the application form by 12pm (China Standard Time) on Wednesday August 5, 2020. Applications submitted by 12pm (China Standard Time) on Wednesday July 22, 2020 enjoy the discounted early-bird price.
