Guangzhou, China

Guangzhou is the capital and a political, economic, and cultural center of Guangdong Province and is the third largest city of China. A giant metropolis, Guangzhou is home to both gleaming towers and leafy alleys. Its history as a strategic trade port to the South China Sea has afforded it a colonial background and culturally diverse population that combine to give Guangzhou a cosmopolitan flair.

Guangzhou is often called "The City of Flowers" because flowers here blossom all year round. The city enjoys a subtropical monsoon climate. It enjoys plenty of rainfall and evergreen in four seasons. The average temperature is 22.8 centigrade; the average relative humidity is about 68%. Its location on the Pearl River and proximity to Hong Kong has made Guangzhou a strategic port for centuries.Guangzhou hosts more restaurants per capita than anywhere else in China and the city is considered the home of traditional Cantonese food.

Guangzhou is also a safe city for visitors. According to the 2016 China Crime & Safety Report, issued by the U.S. Overseas Security Advisory Council (OSAC), Guangzhou’s ratings for crime, terrorism, and political violence are all low indicating that Guangzhou is very safe.
